The Berkeley Square Ball will take place on the 3rd of December 2009 and will benefit The Prince's Trust.
This year, date constraints have meant that the event will take place in Portman Square
Event
One of the most anticipated events of the London social calendar, the Ball is synonymous with combining the highest quality culinary experience with stellar entertainment - a concept created by one of the world’s most respected live music impresarios, Vince Power. The refreshing informality of this event attracts a young, hip and fashionable social set from across the globe, and 2010 will see The Berkeley Square Ball held in other key cities around the world.
This year, Giorgio Locatelli, Britain’s leading Italian chef will bring his Michelin starred expertise to create the menu and the celebrated interior designer Shaun Clarkson has been appointed to create the look and feel of the event, drawing inspiration from the romantic theme of ‘A Winter in New York’.
As ever, the line up of dazzling entertainment will only be revealed on the night but it will have to live up to previous year’s headline acts such as Amy Winehouse and James Brown. As well as world famous entertainers, the Ball always attracts an incredible calibre of celebrity guests. Previous years attendees have included Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, Mischa Barton, Cat Deeley and Damian Lewis.
Nobu Berkeley St will host the reception at the start of the ball and keep guests in the party spirit with cocktails Taittinger Champagne throughout the evening.
History
2005 saw the birth of this truly unique event in the garden of Berkeley Square created by live music mogul and entrepreneur Vince Power. Power built his reputation on creating some of the most memorable live music entertainment of the last twenty years, most notably transforming the Glastonbury music festival into the international success it is today. The Ball is now established as one of the most coveted events of the London social calendar.
History
Jamie Oliver, supporter of all great causes, was the first chef to take on such a feat in 2005 and guests in 2006 enjoyed a menu created by Great Britain’s most revered Italian Michelin starred chef, Giorgio Locatelli. In 2007, the ball was even more ambitious in its culinary aspirations, by bringing three brilliant British chefs together, Tom Aitkens, Richard Corrigan and Bryn Williams. Marco Pierre White was responsible for the food in 2008 and this year sees the return of Giorgio Locatelli who will create all three courses.
